Once upon a time, on a screen not so far away from your face at this moment, you clicked on my “About” page.
Thanks for that.
My name is Rosanna Chester. Hi! (Mildly awkward wave…)
I suppose I should elaborate.
I am a musician and a singer-songwriter. I play multiple instruments, including (but not limited to) the piano (I think that’s my favorite instrument—it’s just sooo fun to play…) the violin, the Irish whistles, and the guitar. I don’t play one specific genre of music. I love too many genres to stick with just one. I have been inspired by Rock, Folk, Pop, Traditional Irish, Jazz, Classical, Experimental, Classic Rock, Dream Pop, Alternative Music, Irish Rock… The list kinda goes on forever. I think it’s fair to expect variety from me.
I am also (if you haven’t picked up on it by now) a nerd, for lack of a better word. We can say I’m the kind of person who watches The Lord of the Rings as a comfort movie, obsesses over soundtracks (John Williams! Joe Hishaishi!), goes into foreign accents to improvise far-fetched stories with my siblings while I wash dishes, and who was once banned from calling my siblings “beast.” (I didn’t really mean it.)
If music is audible light, then where I come from, music shines from every room, sometimes a little too brightly. (Or loudly…) This is the courtesy of my awesome, lively, eccentric family. (Is not “eccentric” an excellent word? Does not my use of it confirm my earlier claim? That I am a nerd?) I am the oldest of 9 children, and we are all musical. And homeschooled. (And nerdy.) It’s actually very fun around here! My mom (Mackenzie Chester) and dad (Randy Chester) are also musicians, and I am so glad they decided to raise me in an unconventional way, they took the road less traveled by, and allowed me to pursue what truly interests and inspires me.
I want to use this profile to inspire you like I have been inspired. There is so much in this world that is beautiful, and so many little things we take for granted. But it’s the little things that make life special, details that prove the things we do that don’t seem important are actually profoundly important. Why would life be beautiful if it didn’t matter? In my 17 years of life I have seen plenty of proof that life does matter. (If it didn’t matter why would we even care if it didn’t, why would “things mattering” matter to us?)
I am convinced that God sees every space, every moment, everything and everyone. The good and the bad, and He knows joy and sorrow better than any other, and cares about our struggles. And He loves making life more beautiful than necessary. I believe that Jesus Christ has set me free from darkness and evil, there is enough darkness in this world as it is. I don’t need to be depressed about it, that’s pointless. I want to walk in the light of life, and use my time in this world to make it more beautiful, even in simple ways. So, join me here if you’d like! I hope and pray that I can help illuminate your mind with good, pure, lovely, true, and beautiful things.
Sincerely,
Rosie
